🌄 Mount Kailash – The Axis Mundi

In the remote southwestern region of Tibet lies Mount Kailash, a pyramid-shaped peak believed to be the spiritual center of the universe.

  • Hindus believe it is the abode of Lord Shiva
  • Buddhists call it Kangri Rinpoche, the “Precious Snow Mountain”
  • Bon followers believe their master Tirhankara Rishabhanatha attained enlightenment here
  • Jains also revere it as a holy site

Mount Kailash stands at an elevation of around 4,000 meters above sea level, stretching from India to China and Nepal to Turkestan. It is said to be the place where Lord Shiva shared the science of consciousness with the Sapta Rishis (seven sages).

🚶 Mount Kailash Parikrama – A Lifetime Achievement

The 52 km Kailash Parikrama (circumambulation) is physically challenging but spiritually rewarding.

  • Pilgrims who cannot walk can choose to ride a horse—still considered a lifetime achievement.
  • Completing the Parikrama is believed to wash away karmic sins and bring blessings to you and your loved ones.

🌊 Lake Manasarovar – The Sacred Water

Next to Mount Kailash lies the sacred Lake Manasarovar, believed to be created by Lord Brahma.

  • Taking a dip in the lake purifies sins of 100 lifetimes.
  • Drinking its water is believed to lead the soul to Shiva’s divine abode.
  • It is said that Lord Shiva himself bathes in the lake every day between 2 am and 4 am.

The lake is also the source of four major Asian rivers:
Brahmaputra, Ghaghara, Sindhu, and Sutlej.
